Hey my blogging beauties!
So, it has been a while since I last posted anything (4 months actually). I really do suck at keeping up with this kind of stuff, but I'm going to really try because I do want the world to know about my opinions and how I feel, and I want to know how you all feel too!
Lately, I've just been working (I work at Urban Outfitters) and trying to get things settled for school (I attend Frostburg State University). Life is getting a little stressful now because I'm trying to accomplish everything at once and quickly, but I know I can't succeed like that, so I'm learning to take one step at a time. Me and Scott recently broke up, but we're working on things. I miss him...
I lost my wallet like twice since March, so I have to get my permit renewed (why do I still have a permit and not a license and I'll be 20 in two weeks? Because I suck, that's why). Oh, yes. I turn 20 in two weeks! On August 1st, to be exact. And on that day, there is a Wiz Khalifa concert nearby where I live and I want to go so badly. Hopefully, someone buys me a pit ticket so I can be up close and personal and actually see him. He's my favorite rapper. I LOVE YOU MR. SPACELY!
I also need to find time to clean my room...right now would be a good time...but I'm blogging...so...
So that's my life in a nutshell right now.
Now I have seen a lot of things recently (on Instagram, Twitter, etc etc) about women being insecure and not loving themselves. I was once just like that. I got teased a lot when I was younger because I had a bit of a unibrow and a mustache. At ten years old, I didn't really think that mattered. But kids starting teasing me, saying I look like a man and I probably have a penis blahblah. It affected me harshly, because my mother and father always told me I was beautiful, and I felt like they had been lying to me because all of these kids were calling me ugly. So I cried many nights because I didn't feel pretty. I didn't look like the girls on TV or on the front of magazines. And now? I walk outside confident, proud, and beautiful. And no, not just because I get my eyebrows done and no longer have a mustache due to waxing for almost 5 years now, but because I did these things to make myself know that I am beautiful:
1. Tell yourself you're beautiful every day that you wake up. Even if you think you look like dog poo. Trust me, it works.
2. Do things to make yourself feel better from the INSIDE. Like, eat healthier. Go workout. Get that new lipstick you've been dying to have from Sephora but it was too expensive. Hang with your girls for a girls night. Pray. Anything that relieves your mind of negative thoughts.
3. Keep your house clean. A clean house makes for positive energy. You can't feel ugly when you have a made bed.
4. Fix your posture. Even if you don't feel confident, a straight back with pushed-back shoulders with your head held high tells people that you believe in yourself.
5. Smile. Laugh.
6. I have a hideous crooked tooth on my right side of my mouth. I hate my nose, I feel like it's too big. I have a big head. I have man fingers. All of these flaws that I have make me who I am. Find your flaws and embrace them. You can't change them (I mean you could, but that's unnecessary and like 75,000 dollars). Be blessed that you can see, hear, breathe, smell, and feel. Many people aren't as blessed as you.
7. Accomplish something you've always wanted to do, even if it's complete a Harry Potter book from start to finish or dye your hair a wild, crazy color. Once you feel a sense of accomplishment, your outlook on life will improve.
8. Wake up before noon. Oversleeping causes that hangover look. Of course you'll feel ugly looking like you just woke up from a six-month hibernation. And plus, success happens before noon.
9. Give up all of those clothes that you keep because you think you're going to lose weight and fit into them. Every time you look at them, it depresses your mind because you still can't fit them. So what? They probably aren't that cute anyway. Trash em, and treat yourself with some new clothes.
10. Take selfies more often. I know that sounds silly, but the more comfortable you are with looking at your face, the more comfortable you will be with showing it.
There ya go. You're beautiful, honey. Don't ever let a person who hasn't walked a mile in your shoes let you believe that you aren't beautiful. Beauty isn't just physical. Confidence is beauty. Intelligence is beauty. Ambition is beauty. I know you've got it in you, girl. Go get it.
Love ya <3

"ummm, excuse me sir, but I'm a LADY."
Hello world.
I haven't blogged in a very long time, and I sincerely apologize for that. My week has been disgustingly busy, and today, I finally got a snow day (thank the lawd). So I got to relax and stuff, it was a pretty nice feeling to just sit and do nothing.
Anyway, my topic of the day is...well...really, I can't put a label on it. I'm sure you'll get the gist of what I'm saying as you read along.
When I was little, although I was a bit of a tomboy, I watched a lot of Disney movies and I vowed on being treated like a princess. To this day, I like things being done the way I want them to be done, no compromise, no ifs ands or buts. I like the door to be held open for me and I like my chair to be pulled out before I sit. I like when a guy sees me standing on the train and offers his seat. I don't like waiting for a guy. All of these things that I desire from a guy, whether it's a guy I like or just a random stranger-guy, are secretly desired because I'm slightly afraid that if I demand these things or make it known that I want these things, that I'll seem like a diva or a primadonna (I am neither of these, let it be known, I am a living princess and I don't care haha). But in all honesty, I am not a primadonna, a diva, or even a princess for wanting these things. I am a LADY.
As a young child, I feel as though boys should be taught how to treat a woman. The boy should already see his father treating his mother like a lady, even more so like a queen, since that's his wife. Then, in addition to being used to seeing it, the boy should be taught. You hold the door for Mommy, you pull out Mommy's chair...it makes them feel like a man at a young age so when they do become at the manly age, then they are used to it. And even if there isn't a father figure in the house, the mother should try to tell her son, "This is how you treat women", show them, and MAKE them demonstrate it in their actions.
In today's society, it hurts me to see so many of our men acting like un-hometrained BOYS. I take the Metro pretty much every day, and I constantly see young men, teens and older, sit in chairs while women, no matter the age, standing. It's normal for me to see men walk through a door and let it close behind them, even after noticing a woman was behind them. I hear men referring to women as all types of bitches and hoes on a daily basis. It isn't too much of women to ask to be treated like a lady. That's what comes with being a man. Many men think that being a man comes with turning a certain age. No, being a man is ACTING like one. And part of being a man is being chivalrous towards women. In today's society, chivalry is so completely dead, it's ridiculous.
So, to clarify things...not to sound like a bitch, but guys:

So, to clarify things...not to sound like a bitch, but guys:
- Yes, I find it disrespectful when you call women bitches around me. Don't try to justify yourself by saying, "You're not a bitch so I'm not talking about you" or "I tell it like it is". No, you tell it like a BOY who hasn't let his mental ball drops yet. And yes, I will say something about it.
- When you see a woman walking toward the door, hold it open for her, whether you're behind her or not. Or at least leave it open behind you so you don't damn near slam the door in her face.
- If you go on a date, do NOT have the woman waiting on you. If anything, you wait on her (ladies have a lot more things to do to get date-prepped than guys, so hush).
- Pull out the chair on a date. Just do it. It shows some gumption and hometraining.
- If you're on public transportation, at an event, or anything, and you see a woman standing, no matter her age, you get up and let her sit. It's the manly thing to do.
So, yes, I feel completely justified for saying I want to be treated like a princess, but it all starts with being treated like a lady. And ladies, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be treated as such.
Guys, do better and you'll get better (women, that is).
Okay, woo! Had to let that out. Toodles blogbuddies!

P.S. My boyfriend treats me like a princess, so I finally got my wish. <3

happy birthday Rihanna, you sexy thang.
Happy birthday, Rihanna! So, yes, I, along with billions of other people, love Rihanna and the way she just reinvented herself. She is a badd ass woman, and she doesn't care about what people think about her, and that's just how I am (I don't do it as sexy as she does though haha). So in odes to Rihanna on her birthday, I put together a little outfit that I would LOVEEEE to see her in. I would love to see her take on an androgynous role. With her sexy short haircut, I feel like she could pull off the guyish influence while still maintaining her feminine glory. I mean, c'mon, it's Rihanna. She could pull off a trashbag and look delicious. Maybe one day, she will see this and grant my wishes. Or...maybe not.
Until then, my darlings,

Hello world,
I was born in Washington, D.C. but was raised and have spent my whole life as a Maryland resident. I love where I'm from, don't get me wrong. If I wasn't raised here, if I wasn't surrounded by the places and the people and the environment that embody Maryland, then I wouldn't be who I am today. But Maryland...D.C....the DMV altogether...it has become so overwhelming living here. People who aren't from here may see DMV as the forefront of creativity and success. So many beautiful ideas and people have blossomed from here...Kevin Durant, Sandra Bullock, Taraji P. Henson, Chris Brown (yum), Trey Songz (yum yum), and Martin Lawrence, just to name a few. But the DMV has become such an unoriginal place to be. Everyone dresses alike, Lord knows when I leave, I never want to see Helly Hansen, fake eyelashes, eyebrow pencils, New Balances, dreads, or platform shoes EVER AGAIN (or at least not for a while). No one has their own individual style or personality or ideas. Everyone is just scrolling down their Instagram to see what all the people on their TL are wearing, and they go out and copy it. To stay fresh. And this absolute thirst to stay fresh gets lives taken away...gets people jumped, shot, stabbed...for what? An item of clothing? Something replaceable?
I don't think this generation's youth understands. WE ARE THE FUTURE. We are supposed to be our nation's future doctors, teachers, firefighters, policemen, detectives, scientists, writers, actors, singers, dancers...we are our nation's future, no matter what path we choose in our life. None of us have the right to decide when someone else's life ends. NO ONE. With my religious belief, I believe that only God and God alone makes the choice of when it is someone's time to go. And, out of all things, you kill for shoes? Is that the price of a life these days? Couple hundred bucks? You are murdering someone's CHILD, someone's brother or sister, someone's best friend, someone's future father or mother...over an accessory. Our generation is so mentally swallowed up by society's demands of how you are supposed to look and be that they will do absolutely anything to live up to those standards. It's sad, honestly. And I can't even say it's the parents' faults anymore. Many parents raise their children in the best ways they can, and these hoodlums still find a way to not appreciate what their parents have worked hard to give them and go and rob someone of their child, just because that child has a nice pair of sneaks on.
Our world is slowly falling apart in front of us. We need to do more than just sit around and "boohoo, sad story" when we see and hear about things like this. We need to change our perceptions on life. Read books, they educate you and make you smarter. Exercise, it releases stress buildup in the body (psychologically proven). Reinvent yourself. Find yourself. Do whatever you need to do to do better than what you're doing now. Because this can't continue. Be the change you want to see in this world.
Goodnight blogbuddies,
Me
Today was a pretty chilly day here in Maryland. Last night, there was a shooting near where I live and apparently, the guy was on PCP. A few nights ago, a student at Suitland High School was shot and killed and another was shot and put into critical condition. The day before that, another Suitland student was shot and killed. For what, you ask? Over some damn SHOES.

woohoo.
I also made a Polyvore today! Woohoo! Check me out: flawlesshysteria. But anyways, I am very much of an "urban" dresser, but I truly dislike looking cliche or ordinary. I think the palm tree pants with the dandelion yellow Doc Martens truly put the outfit together, and make the outfit "different", which is what I like. And, of course, being Kendra, I had to have a shirt with a big bad word on it :)
Smoocharoos,
Me
first day.
So, today is my first day as a blogger. My best friend Jackie (her blog is theqquirk.blogspot.com, btw) has been trying to get me to make one for a while now, and I decided to make one today because I feel like I have a lot to say but not enough people to hear it. Maybe, with this blog, the world may understand the real Kendra, and Kendra will make her mark on the world...
Okay, maybe that was a bit cheesy, but I plan on spilling out each and every thought in my brain onto this blog. So...grab some popcorn and enjoy.
